I know I can try dozens of beers from around the country at this Saturday afternoon's (Sept. 12) America On Tap beer-tasting festival in downtown Yakima, but as far as I'm concerned one of the best breweries in the country is right here: Yakima Craft Brewing Co.

The eight-year-old brewery traces its roots back to the late Bert Grant, who started the modern craft-beer movement ... also right here in Yakima. Dating back to the early 1980s, his pub was a favorite stop for beer lovers -- and some of the equipment from his old brewery is still in use at Yakima Craft.

Anyway, I slipped off the other day and hooked up with AJ Keagle and Chris Swedin, the brewers at YCB, and they gave me one tasty tour of their operation.

Make sure you try their samples at AOT this Saturday -- it runs from 2-5 in front of the Capitol Theatre. Meantime, here's a sample of what they do at their River Road headquarters:
