Washington athletic director Scott Woodward says the search to replace Steve Sarkisian has already started.

Woodward released a statement on Monday afternoon shortly after USC confirmed that Sarkisian will be the Trojans' new head coach. Woodward said he will not comment on his coaching search and that he intends to work hard in the coming days to find the best fit for the university.

Sarkisian left for USC after five seasons as the Huskies head coach. He finally got Washington off the seven-win plateau, going 8-4 in the regular season, capped by a 27-17 win over rival Washington State in the Apple Cup last Friday. It is the most wins by the Huskies in a regular season since 2001.
