Website for Cattle Market Launched, New Deal Offered at Port to End Slowdown
- Merck Animal Health and DVAuction have developed Cattle Market Central which is an extension of Beef Market Central and provides feeder cattle class and weight offerings along with prices from more than 45 auction markets.
Merck Animal Health Senior Marketing Director Jim Miles says the site was developed with extensive input from cattle producers and designed to help address their critical real-time needs.
Cattle producers can test CMC for free with a four-week complimentary trial from Merck Animal Health. Visit cattlemarketcentral.com to sign up.
- There has been a bit of movement on the port issue. Members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union have been working without a contract since the last one expired last May.
Pacific Maritime Association has made a contract offer which would significantly increase compensation to members of the ILWU. There are hopes that the deal will allow the issue to be resolved so that ag goods and more can once again start flowing freely.
Companies have been seeing major losses due to the slowdown at one of the most important ports on the west coast.
