The Ancient Mariner (Jamie Moyer) Vs. The Young Gun (Danny Hultzen) Fails To Deliver On the Hype

Not that it was much of an intriguing pitching match-up as much as it was the novelty of it, but last night's game at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma fizzled when 49 year-old ex-Mariner Jamie Moyer faced 22 year-old Mariner phenom Danny Hultzen.

Moyer gave up two home runs in the first, while Hultzen threw 90 pitches in just four innings of work as Las Vegas ultimately topped Tacoma 7-3.

For the 7,000+ plus fans in attendance however, it was the rare opportunity to see a relic of past Mariners success face the left arm it hopes hinges on many future victories cross each others paths. 

Truly,  a changing of the guard playing itself out on the diamond, even if it lacked luster.
