The State Department said Tuesday that it still pushing to have regular contact with WNBA star Brittney Griner of the Phoenix Mercury, who has been detained in Russia for nearly three months.
For the past three seasons, a piece of the Seattle Storm’s identity was absent even as it remained among the elite teams in the WNBA. Seattle was missing a permanent home.
Athletes Unlimited is starting a basketball league this winter with 44 players. The season will be played in the same city running from Jan. 29 through Feb. 28.
