Rumors were swirling yesterday that a bid to host a future Superbowl in Seattle had been made. Do the rumors have any credibility?

Yesterday, a Seattle sports radio station reported that the Seahawks and the Seattle Sports Commission had submitted an application with the NFL to host a future Superbowl.

Today, Seahawks spokesman Dave Pearson said, “It is an erroneous report”.

“We are not presently pursuing a Super Bowl bid for the City of Seattle,” the Seahawks wrote on their official Twitter account.

Seattle has never hosted a Big Game — though it is larger than some previous host cities such as Minneapolis, San Diego, Indianapolis, Tampa and New Orleans.

It doesn’t look like it will happen anytime soon.

AM 1280 and FM 99.3 Newstalk KIT is your Seahawks station. The Seahawks take on the Raiders tomorrow, with the broadcast starting at 5PM.
