BEND, Ore. (AP) — Students at an Oregon school were devastated when their beloved solar-powered race car was stolen, but it swiftly returned.

KTVZ-TV reports that the bright red trailer that holds the race car was missing from Bend's Trinity Lutheran School on Tuesday morning.

Principal Hanne Krause says the school notified police and posted an alert on its Facebook page.

Science teacher and solar car coach Tom Stueve's wife, Heather, saw the Facebook post. Later, she noticed the red trailer being hauled by a moving truck and called her husband.

Police were able to recover the trailer and charged a married couple from Bend with aggravated theft.

Krause says the lock was still on the $7,000 trailer and the thieves probably didn't realize a solar car worth more than $30,000 was inside.
