• One of last year’s top trade success stories is China’s surging imports of U.S. sorghum.

According to the U.S. Grains Council during the most recent marketing year - China imported 165-million bushels of U.S. sorghum - 87-percent of U.S. global exports. As of January 8th - China has already accumulated exports of more than 189-million bushels for the current marketing year.

Council Director in China Bryan Lohmar says China’s demand for coarse grains is significant. He says the Council and U.S. sorghum industry have worked hard for three years to introduce sorghum as a new option for China’s producers.

  • Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey, California Senator Diane Feinstein and Arizona Senator Jeff Flake have sponsored the Corn Ethanol Mandate Elimination Act of 2015.

Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis says this legislation is incredibly shortsighted. He says identical legislation has been introduced in the past and has always failed to gain traction.

Buis says this amendment would eviscerate the Renewable Fuel Standard and keep the U.S. addicted to foreign oil.
