The Seattle Seahawks have signed All-Pro Cornerback Richard Sherman to a four-year contract extension. This comes a week after the Hawks signed All-Pro safety Earl Thomas to a contract extension making him the highest paid safety in the NFL.

Sherman announced the news on his website Wednesday ahead of a news conference called by the team. Sherman wrote that the extension is for $57.4 million with $40 million guaranteed. Sherman wrote there is no other team or city that he would want to play for.

The deal wraps up a solid off-season for the Seahawks prior to the NFL draft. Seattle re-signed defensive end Michael Bennett, reached extensions with coach Pete Carroll and All-Pro free safety Earl Thomas and has now locked up Sherman for the long term.

Sherman is a two-time All-Pro selection. He had eight interceptions each of the past two seasons.

From Sherman's blog today:

I am blessed to announce that the Seattle Seahawks and I have reached an agreement on a contract extension. The goal has always been to stay in Seattle and continue to play for the Seahawks. With this chapter closed, I can continue to focus on what is important – defending our Super Bowl Championship and being the best cornerback in the NFL.

This is a great moment for my family, foundations and the people who supported me to this point. Hard work and execution got me to this moment, the Seattle Seahawks have backed up that respect with this contract. The terms of my deal are 4 years for a total of $57.4M with $40M guaranteed. There is no other city or team that I would want to play football for.

Next up for the Seahawks is signing Quarterback Russell Wilson to a long-term contract.  Wilson still has two years left on his rookie contract but it's expected the Seahawks will try to sign him to a long term deal after next season.
