SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A great white shark forced an early end to a Northern California man's Golden Gate swim. Simon Dominguez was trying to be the first person to swim from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco to the Farallon Islands, a distance of about 28 miles. He was just 3 1/2 miles from his goal when a great white shark started circling. The Marin Independent Journal reports the marathon swimmer reluctantly climbed into his support boat. He doesn't know if he'll make another attempt.
