Even with the big money free agent acquisition of quarterback Matt Flynn, Tavaris Jackson is still the Seahawks #1 QB going into training camp next month.

Many Seahawks fans are expecting Matt Flynn to be Seattle’s starting quarterback this coming season, but a decision is still far from being made. Head coach Pete Carroll said at the end of minicamp two weeks ago that there likely won’t be a firm decision until after a few preseason games.

So, the competition will continue between, Jackson, Flynn, and rookie Russell Wilson. At least publicly, the Seahawks don’t know who will direct the offense this season.

Flynn has shown a lot of promise during the offseason, but still hasn’t distinguished himself from the other two.

ESPN’s John Clayton said Sunday that “He’s (Flynn) a quick decision-maker, he can make all the throws and he seems to be very accurate. But, at this stage, he hasn’t wowed anybody in all the offseason program. And because of that, when they start training camp, Tarvaris Jackson will be taking the first snap.”

“That doesn’t mean that Jackson’s going to win the job, but it’s still going to be a three-way competition.”

As the incumbent starter. T-Jack gets the first reps. Seahawks training camp opens late next month.
