Heath Farwell, Seattle's backup linebacker and special teams captain, suffered a groin injury against the Bears that coach Pete Carroll addressed in an interview with a Seattle station.

The Seahawks took to Twitter Monday to make the announcement:

No other details about the injury, or what it would mean for Farwell, a 10-year NFL veteran who played in Minnesota before signing with Seattle in 2011. A special teams standout, the linebacker had 11 tackles and a sack in the 2014 preseason. Farwell's injury could seal a roster spot for rookie Brock Coyle from Montana, who started all three preseason games for regular middle linebacker Bobby Wagner, who has been out with a hamstring injury. Coyle has also been playing special teams, totaling 17 tackles in 2014.
