Red-Hot Mariners Pound Red Sox

The Seattle Mariners are now six games over .500 for the first time since 2009. Tuesday night the Mariners won their fifth straight game, beating the Boston Red Sox, 8-2. This comes on the heels of Monday's 12-3 pounding of Boston.

Kyle Seager led the offense Tuesday night with an RBI double in the first inning and a three-run home-run in the fifth. The loss was the Red Sox's fifth in the last six games.

Despite a shaky performance from starter Erasmo Ramirez, the Mariners matched their longest winning streak of the season thanks to another offensive outburst. Seattle hit two homers.

Seager's homer was his 11th of the season, 10 of those coming at Safeco Field. Mike Zunino followed with a solo shot as part of Seattle's four-run fifth inning. It was Zunino's 10th home run.

Joe Beime got four outs in relief of Ramirez to get the victory. Ramirez again failed to get deep into the game and was done after 4 1-3 innings.

The Mariners go for the sweep against Boston tonight at Safeco. Hisashi Iwakuma will pitch for the Mariners, Clay Buchholz goes for the Red Sox.
