YAKIMA, WA - The Yakima Valley Pippins pitched another strong outing, limiting the Perth Heat to one run on five hits in a 4-1 non-league win on Monday night at Yakima County Stadium.

Josh Rios (Cal State Fullerton) earned his first start of the season for Yakima Valley, throwing four scoreless innings featuring four strikeouts. Cameron Haskell (UC Riverside) entered from his DH role, throwing two scoreless innings, earning the win.

The Pippins would strike first as Jay Schuyler (San Diego) delivered a 2-out RBI double, one of his two hits on the night, plating Christian Koss (UC Irvine). Leading 2-0 after two innings, Cameron Haskell (UC Riverside) doubled into left field and then Ryan Garcia (UCLA) posted a 2-out RBI single, extending the lead 3-0.

Trent Schulte (Gonzaga) pitched one scoreless inning of relief, striking out two Perth Heat. Drake Atlee (Cal State Northridge) allowed one run in the 8th inning before Garcia finished out Team Poster Night with two strikeouts in the final frame.

The Pippins are back in action Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. hosting the Bellingham Bells in a 3-game series starting with $2 Tuesday at Yakima County Stadium, continuing the 7-game home stand Friday-Sunday againt the Wenatchee AppleSox.
