YAKIMA, WA - The Yakima Valley Pippins were shutout for just the second time this season, falling short in Sunday night's series finale against the Wenatchee AppleSox, 3-0, inside Yakima County Stadium.

Andrew Bernstein (Cal Poly Slo) earned his first loss of the season allowing three runs over six innings, including two runs in the 1st inning. Bernstein worked effectively after that frame, limiting the AppleSox to just one run over his final five frames with two strikeouts.

The Yakima Valley Pippins (23-16, 8-4) were led by a 2-3 effort at the plate from leadoff man Jace VanDeBrake (Gonzaga) featuring a double in the 6th inning. Cameron Haskell (UC Riverside) entered out of the bullpen, throwing three scoreless innings of relief allowing one hit.

West Coast League All-Star Mitchell Morimoto (Arizona) posted his league-high 41st hit of the season in the 2nd inning, while Trevor Achenbach (Oklahoma Wesleyan) walked later in that frame, adding an one out base hit during the 5th inning. Freddy Smith (Cal State Northridge) singled in the 9th inning but the Pippins were unable to extend the ballgame, finishing out the season 5-1 against the Wenatchee AppleSox.
