After a successful inaugural season as a team, the accolades continue to roll in for the Yakima Valley Pippins and their players.

Pippins outfielder Vince Fernandez, who just weeks ago was named the West Coast League's Most Valuable Player as well as being named to the North Division All-Star team, was selected by Perfect Game USA as a second-team All-American and the "Top Prospect" in the WCL.

In 50 games for the Pippins, Fernandez broke both the West Coast League’s single-season home run (10) and RBI (51) records. Fernandez hit .350 with 26 extra-base hits and 38 runs scored.

Fernandez is currently a sophomore at UC Riverside.

“Vince is a special player that had a record setting summer for the WCL,” Pippins Manager Marcus McKimmy said in news release issued by the team today. “He was an everyday CF for us who could create offense with his bat and his legs.  We are proud he was a Pippin and expect nothing but great things in his future.”
