The Kitsap Bluejackets suffered an 8-2 loss Friday in their first visit to Yakima, thanks to the red-hot bats of the Yakima Valley Pippins.

The Bluejackets scored quickly against the Pippins on an Austin Bush RBI double for a 1-0  lead. The third inning saw the Bluejackets score again after an RBI by Matt Jackson.

But the Pippins answered back by sending eight batters to the plate and delivering an RBI single. Vince Fernandez then got a bases-loaded walk to tie it at 2-2. In the fifth inning, Yakima put six more runs on the scoreboard, including a triple by Ryan Rosa, a double by Mitch Skaggs and an RBI single by Nick Kern that scored two.

Meantime, Eli Morgan raised his record to 3-0 by throwing four strikeouts, allowing seven hits and walking two.

The win improved the Pippins to 13-8 overall, 10-6 in the West Coast League.

The Pippins and Bluejackets swing for the fences at Yakima County Stadium again tonight at 7:05. Pregame's at 6:55 on 1460 ESPN.
