While the Pippins offense cooled down after a torrid stretch, the winning ways continued as the Pippins got past the Port Angeles Lefties 4-3 on Wednesday for their sixth straight win.

Lefties starter Riley Beneditti was working in and out of trouble early on. The Pippins hit into double plays in each of the first four innings including two rundowns at third base for a double play after a single in the third and a pop out double play with Cody Jefferis doubled off at second while trying to steal third in the fourth.

Connor White made his fourth start for the Pippins and held the Lefties scoreless through the first three innings, getting out of a two on two out situation in the second. In the fourth, Port Angeles was able to get on the board on an RBI single from Rykker Tom, scoring Austin Earl from second.

The Pippins answered in the bottom half of the inning despite the double play pop out. With two outs and the bases cleared, Tyler Lasch got aboard with a single and Cam Campbell followed with a walk. All-Star Cole Pofek stepped up to the plate and smashed an 0-2 pitch off the center field wall for a two run triple. The Pippins grabbed another run in the inning to extend the lead to 3-1.

In the fifth, the Lefties pulled within a run. Trevor Rosenberg lead off with single. After a groundout moved him to second, Justin Van De Brake drove him in with a single.

After a leadoff walk in the sixth, White would be relieved by Jack Gonzales who got out of the inning and held the 3-2 lead.

The Pippins scored again in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to the center field warning track by Pofek to put the Pippins back out in front by two.

The Lefties battled back again in the seventh, loading the bases with some help from two errors by the Pippins. A sacrifice fly by Earl once again brought the Lefties within a run but Gonzales was able to limit the damage.

Matt Driver came out of the pen in the eighth and fired a 1-2-3 inning. After the Pippins were set down quickly in the bottom half, Driver came back out for the ninth. A leadoff walk and a popout set up Ron Brown who skied a ball to center field. Cole Jones came sprinting in to make the catch and doubled off the runner at first and on a day when the Pippins hit into five double plays, a double play sealed the win for the Pippins, their sixth straight victory.

With the win, the Pippins go to 8-2 in the second half and continue to build a lead in the north division. Elijah Greene picked up two hits and extended his hitting streak to 13 games. The Pippins have a chance to win their fourth straight series in game two against the Lefties on Thursday. First pitch at 6:35.
