The Yakima Valley Pippins opened a six-game home stand Tuesday night with a tough 3-1 loss to the Northwest Honkers.

Tyler Sharron hit a leadoff double, then scored on an RBI single from Eric Peterson in the first inning. In the fifth inning, a questionable call allowed two Honkers runners to advance on the base paths, where both players scored on a single by Clayton Truex.

The Pippins finally got on the scoreboard on Shawn Wardian's RBI single to left field.  Matt Trask made his Pippins debut with six strikeouts, and allowed eight hits and three runs.

The Pippins and Honkers play tonight at 7:05 at Yakima County Stadium.
