EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — An $88 million tentative sponsorship deal between the University of Oregon and Nike would come with strings attached. The Register Guard newspaper in Eugene reports that the athletic giant would increase sponsorship but could impose financial penalties if too many football players covered their shoes with tape during a game. It also would ban campus retailers from selling products by its main competitors. The university's board of trustees will consider the 11-year deal Friday.
