The 66th Annual "Naches Sportsmans Days are on the way this weekend (Sept. 9-11)! This is always a good time & lots of fun for the whole family!

The carnival is going on all weekend, and as usual, plans include a kids parade and grand parade Saturday morning.

Tickets are on sale for carnival rides at Margaret's Deli and Highway Espresso in Naches for $20 in advance and
$25 during the event.

Here's the schedule, according to the Upper Valley Bulletin Board:

KIDS PARADE -- The Kids Parade leads off our Grand Parade starting at about 9:45 a.m. on Saturday. Rewards and ride tickets will be available for all kids in the Kids’ Parade.  Prior registration is not required.  Call 509-653-2051 if you have any questions or need more information. The parade route is about half a mile long. Assemble at Intermediate School on Shafer Ave.

 

GRAND PARADE -- The Grand Parade, featuring community floats, cars, trucks, horses, bands and drill teams, starts at 10:10 a.m. Saturday, following the Kids Parade. Only community floats will be judged this year. All other entrees will be welcomed but not included in the judging. Entrees are encouraged to register early by filling out the online form, sending it in, or calling 509-972-3885. Registration desk will be at 24 Shafer Ave. All entrees must be in place by 9:40 a.m.

 

FISHING DERBY -- The fishing derby, with live fish, will start at 1:30 p.m. Sunday for all anglers between ages 4-12. It will be on the ditch bank just down from the Gazebo in town.  Bring your own bait and pole. Prizes will be awarded. Call 966-4945 for more information.

 

LIP SYNC CONTEST -- The Lip Sync contest takes place on the midway stage at 7:15 p.m. Saturday. Money prizes will be awarded to winners in each division. The contest is open to everyone who registers by 5 p.m. Saturday at the Lions Bank near the stage.

 

KIDS’ GAMES -- Free games for all youngsters and teenagers will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. across from the Historic Depot Park behind the Nazarene Church. Sponsored by the Nazarene Church.

 

FREE ENTERTAINMENT -- There will be free entertainment on the stage all weekend. There will also be a free flower show. These shows are open to anybody who wishes to enter. Call 653-2113 for flower show information. Sportsman’s Days will also feature Bingo, game booths, carnival rides, food and fun for all.

 

BUTTON DRAWINGS -- There will be lucky number Sportsman’s Days button drawings throughout the three days for cash and other prizes. Sportsman’s Days buttons may be purchased at local businesses, from Lions Club members or at the Sportsman’s Days event. Drawings will be hourly with numbers posted at the Lions Bank. Large cash prizes and all unclaimed hourly drawing prizes will be drawn near closing Saturday and Sunday night. Saturday’s cash prize is $500!

KIDS POTTERY MAKING -- As a yearly tradition, Naches artist Lyle Carter will once again be on the midway from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday to teach kids how to make clay pottery. These are free hands-on lessons for kids.
