The Seattle Mariners made a minor deal to bolster their outfield depth Wednesday when the sent minor-league relief pitcher Matt Brazis to the Chicago Cubs for 32-year-old outfielder Justin Ruggiano.

Talk of Braves outfielder Justin Upton coming to the Northwest via a trade have since heated up as the popular wisdom is that the M's are still looking to fill the void of a right-handed hitting outfielder with power, despite the free agent signing of Nelson Cruz.
