Alex Jackson, the sixth pick in this years' MLB draft, has been signed by the Mariners, according to Jim Callis of MLB.com. Jackson, who is listed as a catcher but also plays in the outfield, was selected out of Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego.

Although Jackson has been signed, there are no details of the money. The slot value for the No. 6 pick in this years' draft is $3,575,900 although Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Jackson will be signed in the range of $4.2 million.

Jackson, who CBSSports.com said was arguably the best offensive prospect in the entire draft, will be expected to bolster the M's lineup in upcoming years, a lineup that has been one of the worst in the league the past couple of seasons.

Although Jackson looks to be a promising prospect, he has a lot of work to do in the minor leagues before we see him in a Mariners Jersey.
