The Seattle Mariners were shut out for the second time this year, losing 5-0 to the Texas Rangers Tuesday night.  Prince Fielder and Kevin Kouzmanoff hit back-to-back homers off loser Blake Beaven (0-1) in the second inning. That was all the Rangers needed as Robbie Ross (1-0) picked up his first major league win as a starter, giving up on five singles in seven-plus innings off work.

Kouzmanoff also had two doubles, the second one driving in two runs to put the Rangers up 4-0 in the eighth inning.

Ross (1-0), a former reliever, got his first win as a starter in his third try as the Rangers recorded their third straight win by shutout and fourth in seven victories overall.

The Mariners today placed Logan Morrission on the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring strain. Nick Franklin was recalled from Triple A Tacoma to replace him. Franklin was hitting .393 in Tacoma with four home-runs.  Franklin is in the lineup as the DH tonight as the M's take on the Rangers in a classic pitching matchup.  Felix Hernandez (3-0) is on the mound for the Mariners, Yu Darvish (1-0) for the Rangers.
