Third baseman Kyle Seager will join Robinson Cano and Felix Hernandez at next week's mid summer classic at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Seager was named to the team by Boston manager John Farrell as an injury replacement for Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion. It will be Seager’s first All-Star appearance since his major-league debut in 2011.

Despite solid statistics, Seager did not finish in the top eight in fan voting among American League third basemen. His batting average of.274 trails only the Texas Rangers' Adrian Beltre (.333).

It was announced earlier that Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano and pitcher Felix Hernandez would represent Seattle as American League All-Stars.
