Seattle Mariners pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma's no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles last week has netted the veteran right-hander the title of American League Player of the Week ending August 16th. It is Iwakuma's first career honor of that sort.

Iwakuma tossed the 5th no-hitter in Mariners history last Wednesday afternoon at Safeco Field.

"Kuma" is just the second Japanese-born pitcher with ano-no in the big leagues joining countryman Hideo Nomo who tossed two no-hitters during his career.
