After a tumultuous 3 1/2-year stint with the Seattle Mariners, first baseman Justin Smoak's days with the club have finally come to an end.

The former first-round draft pick was claimed off of waivers earlier Tuesday by the Toronto Blue Jays, leaving the M's with just 39 players on their 40-man roster.

Smoak cashed a paycheck last season to the tune of $2.63 million while only batting .202 with a scant seven home runs and a paltry 30 RBI in 80 games -- nearly half the season.
