Influential singer/songwriter Steve Goodman, who penned hit songs like "City of New Orleans" and "You Never Even Called Me By My Name", passed away at the age of just 36 in 1984 in Seattle from leukemia before ever seeing his beloved Chicago Cubs win a World Series.
Before he passed, he wrote what may be the best song about baseball ever written - "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request". With Chicago the favorite to win the championship for the first time since 1908, it might be time to dust this one off.

After more than a century, maybe this is the year that Steve Goodman and Harry Caray can smile from heaven and Steve Bartman can come out of hiding.
