The Yakima Valley Pippins' win streak ended at 10 games Friday night in Wenatchee as the Wenatchee AppleSox, who are battling for their playoff lives, scratched out an 8-6 win.

The AppleSox got things rolling fast as Sam Brown's two-run homer highlighted a first inning that put the Sox up 3-0.

In the fourth inning, the teams traded runs -- Mitch Skaggs' RBI single scored one for the Pippins, but Matt Trask had an unearned run scored against him from Wenatchee.

Skaggs had the hot bat for Yakima as he delivered another RBI on a groundout in the fifth, but the AppleSox answered with a two-run single from Ty Jackson to make it 6-2 at the end of six innings.

In the eighth, it was rally time for Yakima Valley. Kyle Thomson tripled to lead off the inning and later scored on an AppleSox wild pitch. RBI singles were on the menu for Ryan Rosa and Troy LaBrie as they ordered up three more runs to tie the game at 6.

When Wenatchee's turn came in the eighth, Ty Jackson and Michael McCann drove in two more runs for the final score.

Wenatchee's win puts the AppleSox (30-22) in a deadlock with Bend for the wild card spot in the West Coast League. With two regular season games left, Yakima (33-19) has already clinched the East Division.

The Pippins (33-19) and AppleSox play again at 7:05 tonight. Pregame coverage starts at 6:55 p.m. on 1460 ESPN Yakima.
