The Knights bats were alive early in the first two innings Friday in Corvallis with a bunch of singles and walks as the home team outran the Yakima Valley Pippins, 8-3.

Grant Melker hit a two-run single, giving Corvallis a 3-0 lead, then Dane Lund walked to  load the bases for Kevin Klein, who unloaded a grand slam over the left field fence.

WIth a 7-0 lead, the Knights recorded two more doubles and finished the scoring for Corvallis at 8-0 at the end of the second.

The Pippins scored in the top of the fourth after a lead-off walk by J.C. Snyder. Mitch Skaggs hit a scoring single and Shawn Wardian walked in to score with the bases loaded.

The win evens the Knights record at 3-3, while dropping the Pippins to 2-4.

Yakima heads to Klamath Falls next for a 6:35 p.m. game today. Listen in live on 1460 ESPN.
