West Valley High's multi-sport standout Justin Van De Brake was named the 2016 'Male Athlete Of the Year" by the Yakima Valley Sports Commission at the 15th annual Yakima Valley Sports Awards Luncheon held earlier today at the Yakima Convention Center.

The ceremony honors high school teams, athletes and coaches in over 20 different sports. Winners are voted on by the Sports Department from the Yakima Herald Republic.

Van De Brake was All-CBBN in three different sports en route to rewriting the school's record book as a receiver in football, amassing over 1,000 career points in basketball and batting .439 in baseball.

In addition to a plaque, Van De Brake also received a $250 scholarship from the Yakima Valley Lodging Association.
