Ike Gets NFL Gold Ball
The National Football League has given a gold-painted football to Yakima's Eisenhower High School in honor of a former student who played in a Super Bowl.
gold balls have been distributed to 2,000 high schools across the nation in celebration of the 50th Super Bowl.
The balls were given to high schools that produced head coaches or players on a current or former Super Bowl team's active roster.
The ball sent to Eisenhower High School commemorates a member of the class of 1987. Kurt Schulz played safety for the Buffalo Bills team that lost Super Bowl XXVIII 28 to the Dallas Cowboys. Schulz played eight seasons for the Bills and two years with the Detroit Lions.
The gold ball is on display at the north entrance to the school.
