HOUSTON (AP) -- Chris Carter and Alex Presley hit two-run homers and the Houston Astros connected five times in all, routing Seattle 10-1 Saturday night and preventing the Mariners from moving up in the playoff chase.

The Mariners stayed one game behind AL wild-card leader Oakland and a half-game in back of Kansas City for the second slot. The A's and Royals both lost earlier in the day.

Matt Dominguez and Carlos Corporan added back-to-back solo shots and Jake Marisnick hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning as the Astros snapped a four-game skid.

Chris Young (12-9) was tagged for seven runs in three-plus innings.

Dallas Keuchel (12-9) pitched eight strong innings, striking out eighth. He also reached 200 innings in a season for the first time in his career.
