MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — He isn't the first incoming freshman to get tuition from a college for being able to sink a basket. But Lem Turner is one of the few who got a free ride — but didn't do it as a member of the school basketball team. Turner won free tuition for a semester at Ball State University in Indiana after draining a half-court shot in a contest. He made the shot during a freshman pep rally at Worthen Arena. Ball State says it's the second time in three years a student has made a half-court shot to win tuition for a semester. The other time was two years ago.
