The Seahawks (12-4, 1st in the NFC West) welcome the Carolina Panthers (8-8-1, 1st in the NFC South) to their home turf in a divisional playoff game. Seattle is the No.1 seed in the conference, winning a first round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Carolina is the No. 4 seed and defeated the Arizona Cardinals 27-16 in the Wildcard round.

The Seahawks are 6-2 against the Panthers and have won the past four meetings. The most recent games have been low-scoring affairs. Seattle beat Carolina 13-9 this year, 12-7 last year and 16-12 in 2012. There has been one postseason meeting, with the Seahawks beating the Panthers 34-14 in the 2005 NFC Championship Game.

Panther's quarterback Cam Newton has never had to face the noise at Centurylink Field before, Where the Seahawks have lost only two home games in the past two years. They have some of the loudest fans, and their defense responds to their energy. It helps pass-rushers get a half-step jump against opposing offensive linemen. Opponents average 2.2 false starts a game against the Seahawks at CenturyLink Field.
