Getting Up Close With the Seattle Seahawks — Brian’s Blog [VIDEO]

An official media trip to Seattle Seahawks training camp gave me a glimpse of the team that few fans ever get to see.

On Monday, our digital managing editor, John Taylor, joined me on a trip to the Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC) in Renton to watch the Seahawks practice and to get interviews and video footage. Traffic was no problem, we only made one wrong turn, we got to the VMAC on time, met our contact Matt Johnson, got our media credentials and headed out to watch practice.

This is the sight that greeted us.

I saw one description of the weather at Monday's practice session as "sun drenched." Not really. It was hot. Just plain hot. Not quite Yakima hot, but 91 degrees.

The Seahawks allow fans to attend some of their training camp practices. They sell a limited number of tickets to select sessions, and people snapped them up in minutes after they went on sale, selling out all 12 sessions.

The 12s were well represented on Monday.

We got to interview rookie offensive lineman Justin Britt, who team sources say has a great chance to be this year's starting right tackle, and wide receiver Jermaine Kearse, a former Washington Husky who scored a touchdown in Super Bowl XLVIII. (You'll see those video interviews in future posts.)

We also snapped pictures of Legion of Boom members Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas.

Another thing that we noticed right away was the team blasting music during the entire length of practice. It added to a party-like atmosphere for the fans, but it also helps the players deal with noise on the field.

The Seahawks take on the Denver Broncos in their preseason opener on Thursday, with the broadcast starting at 4 p.m. on AM 1280 and FM 99.3, Newstalk KIT.
