PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Rickie Fowler has ended a lengthy winless drought on the PGA Tour by holding on to take the Honda Classic.

Fowler shot a 1-over 71 to score a four-shot victory for his first tour win in 13 months.

After Gary Woodland closed to within two shots of the lead, Fowler dropped birdie putts of 40 and 25 feet to pull away.

Morgan Hoffman fired a 68 to finish in a second-place tie with Woodland.

 

Day out of WGC Mexico Championship

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Jason Day has withdrawn from the upcoming Mexico Championship because of an infection in both ears and the flu.

The World Golf Championship event was poised to have all the top 50 golfers in the world. Day is No. 2 in the world.

Day says the ear infections and flu have kept him from preparing properly.

Yang wins big

CHONBURI, Thailand (AP) — Amy Yang shot a final round 4-under 68 to win the LPGA Thailand by five strokes over So Yeon Ryu.

Yang has now won three times on tour, adding the Thailand title to the one she won at the event in 2015.
