House Ways and Means Chairman Paul Ryan and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch are working with Senator Ron Wyden on the final details of Trade Promotion Authority. Ryan believes they are making good progress - as he says he, Hatch and Wyden are in constant contact with each other trying to iron out the hold-up over TPA. Wyden has assured Hatch he wants to vote for a TPA bill - but is trying to get as much as he can in the negotiations. TPA is seen as a necessary component of the ongoing Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations.

The World Health Organization has released a report evaluating five organophosphate insecticides and herbicides. Glyphosate, malathion and diazinon were classified as probably carcinogenic to humans while tetrachlorvinphos and parathion were classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans. Ag groups are taking the news with a grain of salt and say that the study doesn't prove that glyphosate in particular is more dangerous than other chemicals. They are calling on the WHO to release more of the research behind the study.
