EPA Withdraws Clean Water Regulation, Webinar on Avian Influenza in February
- As the result of objections raised by the National Milk Producers Federation, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has withdrawn a regulatory guidance issued last year concerning when farmers must seek Clean Water Act permits for a long list of normal farming activities near wetlands.
Last Friday, EPA and the U.S. Department of Army Corps of Engineers signed a memorandum withdrawing the "Interpretive Rule Regarding the Applicability of Clean Water Act Section 404(f)(1)(A)."
Last summer, NMPF requested that the Interpretive Rule be withdrawn because it could have actually discouraged water conservation and environmental best practices.
- Protecting your backyard birds from disease is always important, but with avian influenza recently found in the Pacific flyway, it is a very timely topic.
USDA is hosting a webinar and Twitter chat with experts to help new and veteran poultry owners learn more about maintaining healthy flocks. The hour-long webinar will take place on Thursday, February 26 at 2 p.m.
