The Bend Elks snapped the Pippins' four-game winning streak in a 6-3 game in Oregon that left an additional sting for Yakima Valley’s Shawn Wardian — his hitting streak was stopped at 14 games.

The Elks got the scoring off early in the first inning with an RBI single by Billy King. Reed Martinez then tied the score for the Pippins, hitting an RBI single in the third.

The Pippins took a brief 2-1 lead when Jake Roberts' groundout scored a run from third. But in the sixth, the Elks got a big blast off of Trevor Allen, tying the game at 2 apiece.

The Elks bats would heat up even more against the struggling Pippins' pitching in the seventh inning. Jake Peevyhouse drove in two with a triple, another score came off a sacrifice fly by Trevor Allen, and in the eighth inning, Sam Finfer singled a run in to make it 6-2 Elks.

Jake Roberts got the final score for the Pippins in the ninth inning, but by then it was all over.

The loss dropped the Pippins' West Coast League record to 18-11, but the team is still three games ahead of the Wenatchee AppleSox in the East Division.

The Pippins and Elks play again in Bend at 6:35 tonight. Coverage begins at 6:25 on 1460 ESPN Yakima.
