• Work is continuing on Washington’s Wanapum Dam to determine the extent of the crack discovered back on February 27th.

Water levels have been lowered to facilitate the work and holes are being drilled to try and ascertain the damage. Windy weather has caused delays.

The lower water levels are causing concern for agriculture in the area that depends on water from the Columbia River for irrigation and has also been a problem for migrating fish.

Crews have been installing pumps to help get the fish over the dam.

  • USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has been updating its website to keep up with farmers’ needs.

NRCS wants to provide American farmers, ranchers and other visitors with the tool and resources they are looking for on a website that is easy to use and navigate.

NRCS recently created the Get Started with NRCS page that helps farmers, ranchers and forest landowners learn how they can improve their land through conservation.
