Yakima Police say a man wanted for a series of burglaries of businesses in Downtown Yakima is behind bars Today.

Police say they identified the suspect from surveillance cameras

Authorities say early in the morning of October 11 someone burglarized the North Town Coffee House at 32 North Front Street. During the burglary police say the male suspect forced his way into the business and attempted to take money from the cash register. A press release from the Yakima Police Department says the case was assigned to the Yakima Police Department Property Crimes Unit Detective Isaac Hernandez. They say Hernandez worked through an extensive review of footage from downtown surveillance cameras, interviews, and additional investigation and was eventually able to identify the suspect in the burglary as 30-year-old Steven Adams of Yakima.

Police say the suspect is responsible for two other Downtown burglaries

Police were able to connect Adams to two other recent burglaries in Downtown Yakima as well. Those burglaries were reported at the Antojitos Snack Bar at 201 West Walnut Street. on October 11 and at the Yakima Steak Company at 221 West Walnut Street. on October 8.

The suspect is being held in the Yakima County jail

Adams won't be burglarizing any businesses at least in the near future. He was taken into custody by the Yakima Police Department Property Crimes Unit detectives and patrol officers on October 14. Adams is currently being held in the Yakima County jail. He's facing charges of three counts of 2nd Degree Burglary, two counts of  2nd Degree Theft, and two counts of 3rd Degree Malicious Mischief.
