• USDA reports more than half of all U.S. dairy operations have enrolled in the Margin Protection Program.

Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says enrollment far exceeded USDA’s expectations in the first year and the agency is pleased so many dairy producers are taking advantage of the expanded protection.

The new program offers dairy producers a variety of protection choices best suited for their individual operations. Basic coverage begins at an administrative fee of $100. From there - producers can select higher levels of coverage at affordable incremental premiums.

  • The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture has launched the Best of Ag Literacy online database - which will include more than 200 publicly submitted tools and resources tailored to multiple grade levels to help improve students’ understanding of agriculture.

Users can review and download the resources for free and also interact with other users to share feedback and implementation strategies.

The site and resources are made possible with the support of DuPont Pioneer. Anyone may submit resources for consideration for this year by February 13th.
