The Seattle Mariners, behind Nelson Cruz's "Boomstick", rode him and his two mammoth home runs and turned it in to a "BROOMstick" in sweeping aside the Oakland A's by a score of 6-3 in a Wednesday matinee` today.
It helped wrap-up a 6-3 road trip and also vaulted Seattle (59-56) to three games above .500 for the first time this season.

Since May 28 when they sat eight games below even (21-28) Seattle is 38-27 and currently in sole possession of the second Wild Card in the American League.

The club returns to Seattle for their only homestand in the month of August beginning tomorrow with four games against the Los Angeles Angels and three versus Baltimore.
