Mariners Rally Late, Win To Wrap-Up Homestand With Rangers

The pitching-depleted Seattle Mariners looked to Dillon Overton to bridge the gap against the free-swinging Texas Rangers today in the rubber match of their series. While Overton was removed fairly early due to a high pitch count, it mattered not as the M's could not muster much offense against Texas pitcher Andrew Cashner.

Cashner completed six innings of shutout ball, throwing 94 pitches while allowing three free passes and punching out five. Once removed, the Mariners rallied to tie the game in the seventh by plating three, courtesy of four walks by Rangers pitching and a clutch two-out single by first baseman Danny Valencia. Kyle Seager gave the M's their first lead in the eighth with just his second long ball of the 2017 campaign. Edwin Diaz pitched a clean final frame with two K's to save the victory.

Seattle took the three game set with a 4-3 victory in front of a rarely sun-drenched crowd at SafeCo Field.
