Campfires Banned In All Washington State Parks Through September
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission has issued a statewide ban on compfires in all state parks through September 30th. Extreme heat and dry conditions are the reason for the action taken in an effort to prevent human-caused forest fires.
Currently, all parks are at a Level 4 ban, meaning fires are restricted to gas and propane self-contained camping stoves. No charcoal or wood fires are permitted, including designated fire rings. Liquid or propane camp stoves—including gas-powered fire rings—that do not use solid briquettes and have on/off controls are OK.
Updates on bans and conditions, can be found in the Parks and Rec Commission's Alert Center at: http://parks.state.wa.us/AlertCenter.
