(AP) — The Boston Bruins debut without Claude Julien behind the bench for the first time since the 2007-08 season when they host San Jose tonight.

Boston fired its long-tenure coach Tuesday after losing six of nine and falling out of a playoff spot.

The reins have been turned over to assistant Bruce Cassidy on an interim basis. He has previous head coach experience with Washington.

The league-leading Capitals will try to keep their home success going when they host Detroit. The Caps have won 10 in a row at the Verizon Center and have scored five or more goals in the last nine of those games.

Montreal is hoping to snap out of its recent funk when the Canadiens visit Arizona. The Atlantic Division leaders are just 1-4-1 in their last six games. All-Star goalie Carey Price has struggled recently, winning just three times in his last 12 games for Montreal.

There are 11 games on the NHL schedule.
