Seattle’s Pioneer Square was a sea of green and gold last night as basketball fans rallied in support of a proposed new NBA/NHL arena.

They cheered for Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp,  Detlef Schrempf, Slick Watts and Nate Robinson.

But they roared for Chris Hansen.

The man who wants to bring the NBA back to Seattle was greeted by thousands of basketball fans who gathered in Occidental Park for a rally to support his plan to build a new sports arena in Seattle.

Fans also heard from Sonics broadcaster Kevin Calabro and King County Executive Dow Constantine.

The rally was held to send a message to the Seattle City Council and King County Council, that Hansen’s proposal deserves a chance.

SuperSonics fans cheered and high fived each other, united by a common cause and a common disgust at the Oklahoma City Thunder’s run to the NBA Finals. A beloved NBA team could, return to town relatively soon.
