BREMERTON – One run was enough for the Pippins on Monday night. Tuesday night, it wouldn’t hold up, as Yakima Valley dropped game two at Kitsap, 4-1.

The BlueJackets (11-21) took an early lead against Pippins starter Mitch Yada with an unearned run in the 1st. After the Pippins (18-14) countered with an unearned run of their own in the 2nd, Kitsap scored another run right after to take a 2-1 lead.

Yada settled in over the next few innings, but the Yakima Valley offense couldn’t find a rhythm against Kitsap starter Jake Brewer. The righty had a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings and only allowed two hits through seven innings to pick up the win.

Brewer got a pair of insurance runs in the 6th, as the BlueJackets added two more tallies against Yada to go up, 4-1. Even with a few good opportunities late, the Pippins could not add anything more against Brewer or reliever Tyler Omlid.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Pippins, while Kitsap snapped an 11-game losing streak. The rubber match of the series is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Wednesday from Gene Lobe Field.
