SEATTLE (AP) — Adrian Beltre drove in five runs, Derek Holland pitched scoreless ball into the seventh inning and the Texas Rangers beat the Seattle Mariners 8-0 on Tuesday night.

Holland (1-0) gave up four hits and two walks while striking out four in 6 2/3 innings.

Beltre golfed a third-inning homer that barely cleared the fence in left field to give Texas a 5-0 lead. He added a two-run double in the seventh.

Mariners starter Wade Miley (0-1) gave up six earned runs on 10 hits and struck out seven in six innings.

Elvis Andrus and Bryan Holaday both drove runners in with singles off reliever Tony Zych.

The Mariners had only a pair of infield hits in the first four innings and finished with four hits for the game — all singles.
